Celebrate Educator Appreciation Month with FREE ADMISSION for all school and library staff at the Detroit Historical Museum and Dossin Great Lakes Museum during the month of August!

Educators of all levels, school employees, and library staff members are invited to show their School ID at the front desk and receive complimentary admission on the day of their visit.

Go behind the scenes at Signal Return, a working letterpress studio dedicated to teaching, creating, and producing, as well as a retail store stocked primarily with the work of Michigan-based artists.

This three-hour experience will include a guided tour of the print studio including information about the presses, their type collection, and how the presses work, plus a typesetting and printing demo. Each participant will get to take home a printed piece!

Honour Before Glory is an award-winning docudrama film about the No. 2 Construction Battalion, Canada’s one and only all-Black battalion that was formed during the First World War. The film was produced and directed by award-winning Canadian filmmaker, Anthony Sherwood. During their service in France, this all-Black battalion had to endure cruel racism while serving in the Canadian Army.

In conjunction with our newest exhibition at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, join us to explore Bayview Yacht Club. The day will consist of a tour of the yacht club, lunch, and the opportunity to see three regattas throughout the day.

To celebrate the new exhibition Kresge at 100, museum admission will be free on the second Sunday of the month through January 2025, courtesy of the Kresge Foundation.

Join us for a special opportunity to tour the Detroit Historical Society's Collections Resource Center at Historic Fort Wayne.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at treasures including our archival collection, handcrafted furniture, costume collection, famed "bubble cars," and new state-of-the-art imaging system. Your attendance supports our conservation work!

Join us at the Detroit Public Library's Main Branch to learn about a community's efforts to document and celebrate the history of their neighborhood, including building an archive of historical documents and photos, launching an interactive map of changes to the built environment, and collecting oral histories from longtime residents.

Event to be held in the Explorers Room. Registration preferred, walk-ins welcome. Free parking is available for event attendees in the DPL staff lot from 5pm-8pm.

Join us for Member Night at the Museum and take advantage of an exclusive opportunity to explore the Detroit Historical Museum. You and your guest can also partake in sports-themed trivia (with fun prizes) and Detroit-themed snacks. This event is appropriate for all ages!
