Detroit: The "Arsenal of Democracy" High School Research Project

detroit-arsenal-democracy.jpgHigh school students are invited to explore Detroit’s role during World War II, particularly in regards to the hundreds of Detroit factories that switched from making cars, tools, gears, and other industrial items to making products for the war. Students will chose a factory that was located near their school or neighborhood and research using archives, libraries and museums to learn about its role before, during and after the war. Their original research, including primary source documents and photographs, will be featured on an interactive map on the Detroit Historical Society website, where researchers from around the world can benefit from their scholarship.
