Detroit Historical Society Teacher Advisory Council

August 1, 2024 - The Detroit Historical Society is excited to announce the formation of its new Teacher Advisory Council (TAC) and would like to invite educators in the tri-county area (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb) to be a part of this important volunteer initiative. The TAC will play a crucial role in helping the Detroit Historical Society better serve educators and students through enhanced museum tours, accessible curriculum, annual programs, workshops, and educational elements of future programs.

As a member of the Teacher Advisory Council, you will have the opportunity to:

· Provide input on current and future educational programs at the Detroit Historical Museum and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.

· Share insights on how to improve our online curriculum and resources.

· Collaborate with fellow educators and museum staff on how to develop educational workshops applicable to our signature exhibitions.

· Help develop innovative ways to integrate museum resources into the classroom.

The selected council members will determine the frequency of meetings and whether meetings will occur in-person or virtually.

Please know that your expertise and commitment would be invaluable to us, and we believe your participation would be exponentially beneficial to educators and students within our tri-county community.

If you are interested in joining the TAC, please complete the application and submit it by October 1, 2024. Should you have any questions, feel free to email rodneyd@detroithistorical.org.

Educationally yours,

Rodney D. Deal Vice President of Education and Outreach
