Michigan History Day

March 2 2024 | 9:00am to 4:00pm

Michigan History Day®, is a year-long educational program of the Historical Society of Michigan that encourages students to explore local, state, national and world history. Winners of the state level Michigan History Day competition in the Junior and Senior categories move on to compete in National History Day in College Park, Maryland.

Students and teachers are invited to join us as participants in the Michigan History Day - District 10 Contest event. The annual contest will be hosted at the Detroit Historical Museum on Saturday, March 2 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. To celebrate the program's 50th anniversary, this year's theme will be Turning Points in History, and the program is open to students in grades 5-12.

Students will prepare projects centered around this year's theme and will have the opportunity to share their work with judges. Winners will be announced at the event and move on to the state competition, hosted in April. Registration opens on January, 12 2024 and closes on February, 16 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Registration is free for all participants.
