Wahnabezee and the River Park Question: [Hi]story-telling Workshop

November 21 2021 | 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Join us for a session on [hi]storytelling about Wahnabezee and the river park question!

Building on the ongoing collaboration between the Detroit Historical Society and the Detroit River Story Lab, this event invites participants to a multi-layered reading of Wahnabezee, aka Belle Isle Park in Detroit, and the enduring river park question. Through oral histories and archival material, maps and counter-maps, timelines and imagination, the session invites a conversation on Belle Isle as a palimpsest in the making, a living cultural landscape.

Join speakers and graduate students from Taubman College University of Michigan as they share their stories and welcome the contributions of all attendants as we co-create collective past, present and imagined future [hi]stories about Belle Isle.
