Virtual Third Thursday Speaker Series: Harvey Ovshinsky and Peter Werbe

November 18 2021 | 6:30pm to 8:00pm

In honor of the Detroit Historical Society’s centennial anniversary, our Third Thursday Speaker Series events are focusing on Detroit stories from the past that still impact us today. Each month's discussion will bring a contemporary perspective to a different decade of the last hundred years!

This month, we’ll be joined by multimedia journalists and activists Peter Werbe and Harvey Ovshinsky, authors of Summer on Fire: A Detroit Novel and Scratching the Surface: Adventures in Storytelling. From the Fifth Estate to WABX and WRIF, these two friends will recall their adventures making underground media in the roaring 1960s and 70s and beyond.

Author and journalism professor Tim Kiska will moderate the conversation which will include, as always at Third Thursday, questions from the audience.
