Travelin' Man Exhibition Closing & Tom Weschler Photography Benefit Auction
March 15 2025 | 6:00pm to 9:00pm
Join us on Bob Seger Day for a special closing event and auction at the Detroit Historical Museum as we celebrate the final day of Travelin’ Man: On the Road and Behind the Scenes with Bob Seger, an incredible exhibition featuring 36 photographs of Bob Seger taken by legendary rock 'n' roll photographer Tom Weschler.
As the exhibition comes to an end, guests will have the exclusive opportunity to bid on the framed photographs that have hung in the Detroit Historical Museum for the past year. Each piece will be hand-signed by Tom Weschler that evening and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, making this a rare chance to own a piece of music history. Funds raised during the auction will benefit Tom Weschler, honoring his legacy and contributions to rock photography, and the Detroit Historical Society.
The night will also feature a fascinating stageside chat with Tom Weschler and award-winning music journalist Gary Graff, who co-authored Travelin’ Man: On the Road and Behind the Scenes with Bob Seger. Don’t miss your chance to hear these incredible stories first-hand in a one-of-a-kind museum setting!
Guests can enjoy delicious food provided by Oak House Deli, and a cash bar will be available, with each ticket including one complimentary drink.
This promises to be an unforgettable evening of music, photography, and storytelling, AND - you can take home a piece of rock 'n' roll history!
Tom Weschler is an American photographer best known for his work documenting the rock and roll scene, particularly in Detroit during the late 1960s and 1970s. He served as a road manager for Bob Seger in the early days of Seger’s career, capturing behind-the-scenes moments and live performances that showcased the raw energy of the era.
Weschler's photography features intimate and candid shots of legendary musicians, including Iggy Pop, The Stooges, Alice Cooper, and other Detroit-based artists. His work has been featured in books, exhibitions, and publications that celebrate the history of rock music.
In 2009, he co-authored Travelin’ Man: On the Road and Behind the Scenes with Bob Seger with award-winning music journalist Gary Graff, a book filled with his photographs and stories from Seger’s rise to fame. Weschler’s ability to capture the spirit of rock 'n roll on film has solidified his reputation as one of the key visual chroniclers of the era.
