Juneteenth Kresge Conversation - Lunch Counters and Activism

Join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion in connection with the new exhibition Kresge at 100: A Century of Impact, a Future of Opportunity, as we explore the role of lunch counters in the South and picketing in the north to the larger Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.

Panelists include:

  • Ken Coleman, historian and author
  • De Witt S. Dykes, Jr., Oakland University Assoc. Professor of History
  • Jamon Jordan, official historian of the City of Detroit
  • Sharon Sexton, author and activist 

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the panel, which begins at 6 p.m.

Panel discussion is free with registration and will take place in the auditorium at the Detroit Historical Museum. Advance registration is preferred but walk-ins are also welcome.
