Visit two of Detroit’s oldest businesses, located in Historic Eastern Market. Devries & Co. has been in the same family since 1887 and still retains its old-world charm. Its offerings include cheese and specialty food items, garden decor, and Detroit/Michigan-centric gifts and products, displayed over three floors.
Located a half-block from Devries, Henry the Hatter has been a Detroit staple since 1890 and boasts the title of the oldest hat retailer in the United States. President Dwight D. Eisenhower even wore one of their hats at his inauguration in 1953!
