Detroit Mounted Police Barn
On sale now!
DPD’s Mounted Police division now operates from a barn in Palmer Park with five horses, down from its peak of 60 horses, 80 officers, and five barns. Come tour the facility and learn about the care of the animals. Please note that this tour is weather-dependent and will require walking on uneven ground.

Waterworks Park

A source of pride for Southeast Michigan since 1879, the park that housed the first branch of the Detroit Public Library and a 185’ minaret-like stone tower is now home to GLWA’s newest water treatment plant. Please note, this is a secure facility, so all attendees will need to provide a copy of their driver’s license and fill out a release form. Closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are also required.

No advance registration is necessary.

Kresge Second Sundays - Free Museum Admission!

To celebrate the new exhibition Kresge at 100, museum admission will be free on the second Sunday of the month through January 2025, courtesy of the Kresge Foundation.

Exhibition Opening at the Westin Book Cadillac

Featuring photography and artifacts from the Westin Book Cadillac and Detroit Historical Society collections, the exhibit highlights the hotel's rich architectural details, which reflect Detroit's history.

Michigan Alliance of Chinese Community Organizations proudly present 2024 Detroit China Day – the 8th Chinese American Culture & Arts Festival. The event is to provide an opportunity for people in Michigan to experience the richness of Asian/Chinese culture and build stronger community ties.
