COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY UPDATE

The Detroit Historical Museum is OPEN and we look forward to seeing you! We are currently operating at full visitor capacity with enhanced health and safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:  

Museum hours 

The museum is open Thursday – Saturday (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.).

Ticket information 

Tickets for daily visits are available hereWhen you complete your purchase, you will receive an e-ticket and a printable ticket option. Tickets are valid for any entry day/time during public open hours. Walk-in visitors are also welcome.

Touchless payment options are available for credit card transactions at the museum front desk. Cash is also accepted. 

How can members reserve tickets? 

Please create a member account and log in here.

Add your tickets to the shopping cart. Member discounts will automatically be applied to your order at checkout. 

How can the public purchase tickets? 

The general public can reserve tickets here.

What can I expect when I arrive? 

Please follow the directional signs to enter the Kirby lobby. A visitor experience associate will welcome you, scan your tickets (and membership card if applicable) and start you on your route through the museum. If you have not pre-purchased tickets, please note that you will be asked to provide your name and contact details when you buy them at the front desk.

Masks are encouraged - but not required - for visitors. Disposable masks are available at the front desk for those who need them. 

We ask that guests practice social distancing as they move through the museum. All public areas are continuously monitored and sanitized throughout the day. In addition, hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the museum. 

If you are feeling ill or have any symptoms of respiratory illness, please choose another day to visit and do not enter the museum. 

What are the least crowded times to visit?

If you prefer a quieter day at the museum, please take advantage of our Thursday and Friday hours, when we tend to have less visitors than on the weekends. If you are visiting with a group,  please call 313.833.1801 to make a reservation at the group rate.

What amenities or attractions remain closed? 

We have done our best to keep all of our exhibitions open, safe and accessible. Our recently renovated Origins: Life Where the River Bends exhibition is now open to the public!

All restrooms and public water fountains are open.

Tours and programming 

Group tours are available by appointment. To book your experience, call our staff today at 313.833.1801. At this timethe majority of our public programs are back to in-person status. Check out our upcoming events.
