This organization is dedicated to the promotion of Michigan's rich railroading history. Bluewater owns, preserves and operates several historic rail passenger coaches for use on passenger excursion trains. Bluewater's excursion program offers an experience of living history and gives passengers a railroad perspective on Michigan's historic development.

Michigan Council for History Education

The Michigan Council for History Education was founded by K-12 teachers, university professors and citizens committed to quality history instruction in the state of Michigan. It is an affiliate of the National Council for History Education. The Michigan Council for History Education hosts an annual conference in the late autumn of every year where teachers can learn new pedagogy, sample lesson plans, and network with other teachers in the field.

The Michigan Genealogical Council was organized on April 6, 1972 in Lansing, Michigan by representatives from ten Michigan genealogical societies and representatives from the Library of Michigan. They set as their objectives; to locate, preserve, publish and deposit in suitable repositories, records of value to genealogists and to initiate activities which encourage and assist those who are involved in genealogical research.
