Travelin' Man: On the Road and Behind the Scenes with Bob Seger

NOW OPEN in the Motor City Music exhibition

Photographer Tom Weschler served as Bob Seger’s road manager in the late 1960s and early 1970s, traveling throughout Michigan and the Midwest prior to Seger’s string of gold and platinum albums, Grammy Awards, and number one hits.

This collection of Weschler's photographs is curated in part from his book Travelin’ Man: On the Road and Behind the Scenes with Bob Seger, co-created with award-winning music writer Gary Graff. See early moments in Seger’s career through Weschler's lens: his years with the Last Heard and the Bob Seger System, his touring days with the Silver Bullet Band, and his ultimate rise to become one of the best-selling recording artists and concert acts of the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

Weschler’s behind-the-scenes shots also capture Seger's early television appearances, musical opening at the Oakland Mall, seminal “Live Bullet” performances at Cobo Hall, friendships with other artists, and his record-setting string of sold-out performances at Pine Knob Music Theatre.

See this unforgettable display in the Motor City Music exhibition along with a selection of audio tracks from Seger's long career.
