Images from History: People Who Defined Detroit in the 1960s, photographs by Sue Marx

NOW OPEN in the Detroit Artists Showcase

Accomplished photographer and filmmaker and longtime Detroit-area resident Sue Marx won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short in 1988 for her documentary "Young at Heart." She received 20 Emmys, 11 CINE Golden Eagles, and Award of Excellence from the Alliance for Women in Media during her 50-year career. Her freelance photojournalism work with many newspapers and publications in Metro Detroit also captured the energy and movement of Detroit in the 1960s.

Selections from this work make up Images from History: People Who Defined Detroit in the 1960s, a collection of photographs by Sue Marx that showcase Detroit's unique residents, neighborhoods, and communities.

Special thanks to the family of Sue Marx who generously loaned this collection of photographs to the Detroit Historical Society for the purposes of this exhibition.
