Celebrate the life and labor of Martin Luther King, Jr. "Beyond the Dream" at the Detroit Historical Museum, hosted in partnership with the Black Historic Sites Committee.
This annual program will feature dynamic programs throughout the day, including special guided tours of the internationally acclaimed exhibition, Detroit 67: Perspectives, live footage of Dr. King's speeches, an activity book building craft, "Dream Drip", a workshop for older youth who will have the opportunity to create their very own rap song inspired by the words of Dr. King, wonderful live performances and more!

10 a.m. Opening Choir Performance by Renaissance High School Choir
1 p.m. Performance by 3d Dance Troupe
1:30 - 2 p.m. Cupcakes and Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday" to honor King, led by the Detroit Friends Vocal Ensemble
On the Lower Level
11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Share ideas and build blocks to make King's dream real on our "reality wall"
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. "Dream Drip" workshop with Detroit emcee/activist Deidre "D.S. Sense" Smith - write an inspirational rap song
11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Watch film excerpts of King's speeches followed by a performance by Freedom Players black theater program in the auditorium
On the Second Floor
10 a.m - 2 p.m. Join special guided tours of the award-winning Detroit 67: Perspectives exhibition
