Family Pictures USA National Premiere

July 26 2019 | 7:00pm to July 27 2019 | 10:55pm

Join the Detroit Historical Society and Digital Diaspora Family Reunion for a special outdoor premiere and sneak peek of Family Pictures USA, a new tv show airing on PBS this August!

Before the show airs in its entirety on PBS, (August 12 and 13, 2019), we hope you'll join us for a special screening of portions of episodes filmed in Detroit, Southwest Florida, and North Carolina, featuring the local families who shared their family stories with us in Summer 2017.

7 pm: Explore the Detroit Historical Museum, with opportunities to share your family stories and enjoy food for sale.

8:30 pm: Formal program begins. Mark S. Lee, founder, president & CEO of the LEE Group and host of “Small Talk with Mark S. Lee” & “In the Conference Room with Mark S. Lee”, will lead a conversation with show creators Thomas Allen Harris and Don Perry along with community members featured in the series.

9:30 pm: The film will start after dark (around 9:30 pm) on the south facing wall of the Detroit Historical Museum's Legends Plaza (the corner of Woodward Ave & Kirby St.)

This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged.
