To celebrate the new exhibition Kresge at 100, museum admission will be free on the second Sunday of the month through January 2025, courtesy of the Kresge Foundation.

Join us for a family celebration featuring artist and activist Kwaku Osei-Bonsu and his exhibition These Flowers Belong to Me.

This all-ages event will include:

1 - 4 p.m. Hands-on activity facilitated by Arts and Scraps in partnership with Kwaku Osei-Bonsu

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Millinery program presentation by Kwaku Osei-Bonsu

Join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion in connection with the new exhibition Kresge at 100: A Century of Impact, a Future of Opportunity, as we explore the role of lunch counters in the South and picketing in the north to the larger Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.

Marsha Battle Philpot, also known as Marsha Music, is one of the curators of the Black Bottom and Paradise Valley portions of In the Neighborhood: Everyday Life on Hastings Street, JHSM’s exhibit in the museum’s community gallery. Learn more about Black Bottom and Paradise Valley and her father's store, Joe's Record Shop, a fixture in the neighborhood.

Explore In the Neighborhood: Everyday Life on Hastings Street, Jewish Historical Society of Michigan’s exhibition located in the Robert and Mary Ann Bury Community Gallery (2^nd floor), to find all of the supplies needed for Shabbat dinner. Hurry to the Streets of Old Detroit to make your own Shabbat candles.

In 1907 Louis Schlussel opened a bathhouse at the corner of Alfred and St. Antoine streets, featuring Detroit’s first documented mikveh (Jewish ritual bath).  Come learn about the 2019 archaeological dig that recovered a fascinating and forgotten slice of history.
