Members Only! Octagon House

12:00pm to 1:30pm

In the late 1850s, a friendly neighbor rivalry in Macomb County developed into a contest to see who could build the most unusual house. Although Loren Andrus was nearly bankrupt by the time his eight-sided house was completed in 1860, his house was hands-down the winner. The Octagon House is Italianate in style and surrounded on six sides by a Corinthian-columned porch. A dramatic spiral staircase winds from the first floor to the third-story cupola.

Anne’s is the second oldest continuously running parish in the United States. In our tour of this beautiful neo-gothic wonder, we will learn the past, present, and future of the church that has become a bedrock of the city.

Detroit Paranormal Expeditions at the Detroit Historical Museum

Detroit Paranormal Expeditions (DPX) researches and investigates reportedly haunted locations to help explain the causes of the phenomena experienced there. DPX will be at Detroit Historical Museum, LIVE in the Allesee Gallery of Culture!

The in-person event will include a presentation by DPX on paranormal activity found at the museum, and small group tours through The Streets of Old Detroit. Food will be available for purchase.

To commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, a small, socially-distanced group from LARC will operate Special Event Station W8F "live" from Dossin Great Lakes Museum Saturday Nov. 14, 10 AM-3:30PM EST. Also, from November 2, (0000 UTC) through November 16 (2359 UTC), LARC members may sign and operate as W8F from their home locations. Those working W8F from 11/2-16 may send SASE to K8TAS for a commemorative certificate.

Museum guests can watch the broadcast live.
