Since 1972, the Historic Houses of Worship tours have acquainted metro Detroiters with the contributions religious institutions have made in the development of our community. These tours are sponsored by the Detroit Historical Society.

18th Annual Lost Mariners Remembrance
When the tug Admiral and its consort tanker-barge Cleveco left Toledo on December 1, 1942, there were no indications of the horrific snow storm that would hit Lake Erie. The barge carried 18 men and a million gallons of crude oil critical to World War II production. The tug carried 14 men.

Fall Film Series: The Fitzgerald Tragedy
Twenty years of documentary filmmaking and exclusive interviews with people closest to the disaster are presented in “The Fitzgerald Tragedy”—an historical narrative as told by those closest to the most famous ore carrier to ever sail the Great Lakes. Ship captains and crew members, Coast Guard personnel, lighthouse keepers, commercial fishermen, maritime historians, authors, divers and other maritime experts all give their theories and opinions as to what caused the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald’s demise on Lake Superior.

Mosaic Youth Group Performancethon
Watch for two appearances by young performers and singers from Mosaic Youth Theatre as part of their Performancethon!
On Saturday, November 11, groups will spend the entire day popping in and out of area venues to perform and answer audience questions before leaving for the next location.

Edmund Fitzgerald Special Event Station by LARC
On the 2nd Saturday in November each year, the Livonia Amateur Radio Club operates Special Event Station W8F commemorating the sinking of the "Mighty Fitz". This year's event will take place on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle in Detroit.

From the hundreds of oral histories in our archive, the assistance and input of our many partners, and the latest historical scholarship, we have developed the Detroit 67: Perspectives exhibition to allow visitors to better understand the events of July 1967, what led up to them, where we are today and how to connect to efforts moving Detroit forward.
