A River’s Rejuvenation: The Fish Story of Detroit celebrates the importance of fish, their Detroit River habitat, and the people who have called this region home. From thousands of years ago to the present day, fish have played a crucial role in providing food for the people of Detroit. This new exhibition traces the history of the area's fish to reveal how Detroiters have lived, worked, and played through the centuries. 

A collaborative project between the Detroit Historical Society, NOAA, the Detroit Zoological Society, the Belle Isle Nature Center, Belle Isle Conservancy, and the Green Door Initiative, this new exhibition will be on display at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum though mid-summer. Designed as a traveling installation, it will also be displayed at the Belle Isle Nature Center and the Belle Isle Aquarium throughout the summer.
