Celebrate Detroit’s 314th birthday with a day dedicated to the city’s great history! The day will start with a 10am presentation from a descendant of some of the city’s earliest citizens, including those who lived at Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit, the beginnings of modern Detroit. At 11am and 1pm, a docent in our Frontiers to Factories exhibit will share stories of the French voyageurs and settlers in Detroit in the 1700s that illustrate the early struggles and successes of the new settlement. At 12pm, join renowned storyteller Ivory D. Williams as he recounts stories of his experiences growing up in 20th century Detroit in his special presentation, “The Good Ol’ Days!”
