Burger Paradise

Top Hat

Detroiters love to debate the premier location to eat sliders (i.e. small, greasy, delicious hamburgers). In the 1970s, Center for Creative Studies student Edwynn Houk was on a photographic mission to document such establishments. We can only assume he was driven as much by his stomach as by his artistic vision. Undoubtedly, he was lucky enough to sample the menu at each place. These images are examples of his work; some you will recognize as still-popular burger destinations, and some you might remember as long-out-of-business family operations.
