But between 1957 and 1958, the Yellow Pages used an infectiously playful ad campaign which was likely appreciated by children and adults alike. It introduced several characters rarely found in nature (including the Wiggle-wimp and Dunkle-doop) and prompted consumers to look them up in the Yellow Pages to confirm or discredit their existence. Upon recent meticulous checking of period city directories by our expert researchers, none of these creatures were found, leading us to believe that in each case there’s no such thing.
