Whether participating in one of our Historical Perspectives Tours at the Detroit Historical Museum or Maritime Tours at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, educators and students alike benefited from field trips that not only helped them meet the State of Michigan’s Social Studies Curriculum requirements but also made learning fun and exciting!

From expert, docent-guided tours to interactive presentations about Detroit’s history, the Detroit Historical Society served more than 14,000 individuals last year – quite an accomplishment when you consider the financial challenges facing our schools throughout the region.

Many classes have difficulty affording either the museum admission fees or the transportation costs associated with a school field trip.

The Society’s Adopt-a-Class program allows donors to sponsor a class visit – either partially or in full.

A $400 contribution to this fund will ensure that one class of approximately 30 students can visit either museum at no cost, with a waived admission fee and free transportation and materials. Partial contributions are also gratefully accepted!
