Fall Film Series: Shield Screening & Panel

December 14 2019 | 3:00pm to December 15 2019 | 4:55pm

Detroit's very own Danielle Eliska will join us to screen her critically acclaimed dramatic short Shield that chronicles the life a foster child. Join her and founder of Trinity National Film Festival, Marshalle Montgomery, as they speak to the power of representation in film and how media can inform communities and jumpstart important conversations.

About the film: Shield takes us into the world of Zoe (played by Sienna Elisa Rivers), a young girl who was thrust into foster care after the death of her brother (who was her sole guardian).  She latches onto the only thing that reminds her of him - a blanket.  Trauma has alienated her from everyone and has made it difficult for Zoe to find a permanent home.  She may have found one with Rachel (Gisela Adisa) who takes her in and tries to help Zoe overcome her anger issues from being bullied at school.

*Please note that the panel will take place after the Saturday screening only.

Shown at the Detroit Historical Museum. Free with general admission.
