Alger Theater

August 10 2019 | 10:00am to 11:30am

Limited tickets still available!

From its opening to the public in 1935 until its closing in 1985, the “stately art deco movie house” known as the Alger Theater provided
Detroit residents with artistic and cultural enrichment. The 12,000 sq. ft. 800-seat theater was a convenient, affordable and state-of theart-
facility offering family-friendly motion pictures and live performances.

The nonprofit Friends of The Alger Theater is fundraising and planning for major restoration. They intend to spur new commercial, social and cultural development to advance a vibrant community, as revitalized theaters and arts programming have done in other cities. While this tour glances toward a nostalgic past, participants will be among
the very first to see a stride toward the future -- a brand new roof terrace for arts entertainment al fresco. Learn more at algertheater.org.
