Fall Film Series: Poletown Lives
“Poletown Lives” tells the story of residents fighting to keep their neighborhood from being bulldozed for a GM plant that, in 2018, the company announced it has plans to close.The 1983 film documents the story of Poletown and the neighborhood protests around its scheduled demolition.
Director George Corseti will engage a lively Q& A session at the conclusion of the film (during the Saturday screening only).
Shown at the Detroit Historical Museum. Admission is FREE.

Fall Film Series: Superior Lights on the Shipwreck Coast
In 1877, the U.S. Life-Saving Service opened four life-saving stations along a coast, often called the “Graveyard of the Great Lakes.” Stations were opened at Vermillion Point, Crisp Point, Big Two Hearted River and Sucker River/Deer Park. More shipwrecks occurred along this stretch of coastline than anywhere else on Lake Superior.
Admission is FREE. Shown at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Running time: 58 minutes.

The Detroit Historical Society proudly presents the inaugural Course of History Golf Classic. This premier event will begin with a continental breakfast, Bloody Mary bar, and coffee bar before teeing off at the historic Detroit Golf Club, featured this summer as a part of the PGA tour. After an enjoyable day of golf players will congregate in the ballroom for drinks, dinner, silent auction and awards ceremony.

Treats in the Streets is back at the Detroit Historical Museum on Sunday, October 27 with a spooktacular array of activities for the entire family.
Go on the candy hunt, be a history adventurer, enjoy cider and doughnuts with family, and make new friends while playing fun games. Come wearing your favorite costume for a day of spooktastic delight with lots of sweets treats, prizes, entertainment and not a trick in sight.
