Detroit Design 2067 Youth Immersion Program
Detroit Design 2067 is a week-long, youth-driven immersion program designed by the Detroit Historical Society to offer a cross section of high school students from throughout the metropolitan area an opportunity to be positioned as leaders for the future. Historic Houses of Worship Tour

Since 1972, the Historic Houses of Worship tours have acquainted metro Detroiters with the contributions that religious institutions have made in the development of our community. All tours run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and depart from and return to the Detroit Historical Museum. The cost is $40 for Detroit Historical Society members and $50 for guests. Your tour fee includes motor coach transportation with docent commentary, historical presentations at each tour stop and lunch.

Bourbon and Bowties
Join us at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle for a lively night of bourbon tasting and great food for a good cause on Friday, April 5. Sample seven unique bourbons from Detroit and Kentucky distillers and enjoy a strolling Southern and regional menu. Test your knowledge with bourbon trivia led by special guests from Two James Spirits and Detroit City Distillery and learn to make a Kentucky Buck and a Black Manhattan at our cocktail mixing station.

Sound Tour with Detroit Sound Conservancy

Join Detroit Sound Conservancy on a two-hour bus tour of some of Detroit’s most important musical sites, past and present. In the process, you will learn about the organization’s nonprofit vision, mission and goals through the process of cultural preservation at sites like famous jazz venueThe Blue Bird Inn. After this tour, you will not just know more about Detroit’s music, people and geographies, but also more about how you can play a part in preserving and celebrating Detroit’s musical legacies.

Detroit Design 2067 Final Student Presentations
From April 1 - 6, 12 high school juniors and seniors from Detroit and Metro area schools will participate in the Detroit Design 2067, a week-long intensive program that uses the history of Detroit's 1967 uprising, combined with design thinking concepts to address current social issues facing the city. The students are assigned to one of four participating community partner organizations that each lead work relevant to Detroit's unique story.

Spring Film Series: Angels of the Sea
On June 3, 1947, the ship Emperor sank off of Isle Royale in Lake Superior. An old legend about this fresh water sea states that angels watch over its shipwrecks. Explore the wreck of the Emperor through the eyes of the divers as they proceed with angel-like care into the chilling waters. Includes exploration of the engine compartment and in areas over 200 feet deep into Lake Superior.

MSU Science Festival Detroit Expo Day
The Dossin Great Lakes Museum will once again be a venue for the MSU Science Festival's Detroit Expo Day. The festival features a host of live demonstrations, tours, open houses, guest speakers and hands-on activities for all ages at venues around Belle Isle, including the Aquarium and Conservatory.
Some activities available at the Dossin include, but are not limited to:
Draw a Circuit
Students will have a hands-on learning experience about conduction and build a creative electrical circuit using graphite.
MSU Science Festival Detroit Expo Day
The Dossin Great Lakes Museum will once again be a venue for the MSU Science Festival's Detroit Expo Day. Detroit Champions' Day
In 1936, the Governor of Michigan declared April 18 "Detroit Champions' Day." "It is my earnest wish that citizens of the state will observe the day by a display of flags, banners and pictures of our champions when possible." Yes, Detroit has its own holiday dedicated to celebrating the city and the accomplishments of the people in it!
