The Detroit River: A Dynamic Maritime Highway
11 a.m.–12 p.m.

Presented by Senior Curator, Joel Stone. Coffee, tea and pastries will be served during the presentation. For the last four centuries, the Detroit River has served as the primary artery for vessels traveling through the heart of the Great Lakes. The importance of maritime commerce made the river primary to Detroit’s birth, growth and legacy. Early fur traders, naval fleets, immigrants, smugglers, vacationers, migrant birds, a fabulous fishery and the city’s booming manufacturing industries depended upon the river as a dynamic maritime highway.

Seniors enjoy 10% off all purchases in the gift shop.
