About DHS's YAC: The inaugural Youth Advisory Council launched in November 2018 with ten 9-12th graders representing Detroit and Metro Detroit high schools. While learning and reflecting on their individual and collective ability to serve as leaders in their community during their monthly gatherings, the Council met with DHS staff to examine the Society's mission and spent significant time with local historians, activists, and leaders representing different communities and causes in Detroit. All of these activities were designed to help young people unpack the significance of Detroit's unique stories in ways that are relevant to their everyday experiences.

To learn more and celebrate the accomplishments of these amazing young people, please join us at the Detroit Historical Museum on June 15th!
