Postponed - Third Thursday Speaker Series: Jessica Care Moore

March 19 2020 | 6:00pm to March 20 2020 | 7:55pm

After much consideration and in alignment with the requests of our governor, the Detroit Historical Museum is postponing this event. Please watch for a rescheduled date. Click here for more information about our Coronavirus response.

The Detroit Historical Museum is pleased to present an evening with a true Detroit original, jessica Care moore, to celebrate Women's History Month and the launch of her new title, "We Want Our Bodies Back."  The 2018 Kresge Arts Fellow and 2019 Knight Challenge winner will read from her latest collection of poems as well as a few older favorites and engage in a one-on-one conversation with Malika Pryor, Detroit Historical Society Senior Director of Education and Programs, about her journey and what the future holds for Detroit creatives.

Following the talk and reading from her new title, join jessica for a rare interactive experience - a mini-writers workshop. Get behind the scenes insight into her creative process. Bring your pen and notebook (if you don’t have any, we will provide you with some), to respond to the discussion, her work and of course to create some of your very own.

Free with general admission but pre-registration is encouraged, as space is limited for this popular series.
