For many decades it has been a place of magic, a place of hope, a place of community. Tiger Stadium has grown and changed with the times, but one thing has remained constant - the love affair several generations of fans share for the corner of Michigan and Trumbull.

PLAY BALL! 
PLAY BALL! was the first baseball motion picture with sound ever made. It was filmed in Detroit during the 1934 Tiger season, when baseball mania was sweeping through the City. It was written and directed by George Moriarty and premiered at the Book-Cadillac Hotel (Detroit) on January 9th, 1935. It was viewed by 2 million people in 1935 before fading into obscurity.

Meet Me at the Lindell
For more than 50 years, the Lindell AC was the place to see and be seen in Detroit. Thanks to hosts Jimmy and Johnny Butsicaris, on any given night, a beer at the Lindell could be your ticket to an evening with a who's who of famous athletes, entertainers, politicians and media figures. This new film tells the story of the legendary dowtown watering hole that launched a million stories.

Curator Chats: “The Year of the Tiger: 1968”
12:30-2 p.m.

Join us as Jeremy Dimick, Manager of Collections, delves into how the 1968 Detroit Tigers, under manager Mayo Smith, won American baseball’s World Series. It gave the city a much-needed boost following the tragedy of the year before. This presentation discusses the players, the season, and some of the great Tiger Stadium artifacts in the Detroit Historical Society collection.
