April 1 2019 (All day) to April 6 2019 (All day)

Detroit Design 2067 is a week-long, youth-driven immersion program designed by the Detroit Historical Society to offer a cross section of high school students from throughout the metropolitan area an opportunity to be positioned as leaders for the future. This in-depth experience that will provide them an opportunity to:

• Explore the history of July 1967 and its relevance in their daily life experiences (e.g., interactive discussions, historic tours with Jamon Jordan and the Detroit 67: Perspectives facilitated tour experience, opportunities to explore critical issues impacting the city – as they would define them— and identify possible solutions);
• Meet and interact with other young people from different communities for the purpose of sharing their commonalities, as well as their unique differences,
• Connect with several partner organizations in the D67 Network to learn about their work, how they serve the community, and opportunities for young people to add value (e.g., activism, continued learning, employment, and volunteerism);
• Be inspired to take initiative on some form of social, civic, or political action that addresses a problem in their neighborhood or the broader community through a special series of design thinking/problem solving activities created by our consultant, Chanel Beebe.
