Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with our annual “MLK, Jr. Day: Give Us the Ballot” event on Monday, January 17 at the Detroit Historical Museum.

Visitors can participate in a voter registration project for kids as well as listen to an expert on the importance of registering to vote. Kids will make their own ‘mock’ voter registration cards and receive MLK worksheets and coloring pages.

Explore the intersection of personal and historical nostalgia and the role that cultural institutions play in demystifying and concretizing these idealistic perceptions of our collective past in our January Third Thursday Speaker Series.

Join Dr. Victoria Wolcott, Professor of History at the University of Buffalo, and Malika Pryor, Senior Director of Education, Programs, and Outreach at the Detroit Historical Society, in this rich and robust virtual conversation.
