Free Admission! COVID-19 Memorial Garden

10:00am to 5:00pm

Join us on Saturday, June 12 for free admission at the Detroit Historical Museum all day when you bring a stone to add to our Covid-19 Memorial Garden! 

You can also share your experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic as part of, “Detroit Responds: Stories from the Time of Covid-19" oral history project. Our curators will be onsite to collect your story! No registration is necessary.

Virtual Third Thursday Speaker Series: Black Pride and Techno in Detroit

For our next Third Thursday Speaker Series event, we'll be diving into the intersections of race, sexuality and music as we explore how the gay pride movement and the techno revolution intersected in the 1980s and 1990s in Detroit.

Featuring Professor Marlon Bailey, author of Butch Queen up in Pumps, and legendary techno DJ John Collins. Be a part of this virtual conversation about music, culture and pride.

Virtual Event! Centennial Press Conference

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Detroit Historical Society! In 1921, several prominent Detroiters founded the Detroit Historical Society, meant to preserve the history of their booming industrial town. For 100 years, the Society has encouraged historical scholarship, preservation and education. Today, the Society manages the Dossin Great Lakes Museum and Detroit Historical Museum while caring for a collection of more than 250,000 historical artifacts.
