Visit the Detroit Historical Museum for our first annual Grandparents Day in partnership with AARP of Michigan. Museum admission is free and activities will be located throughout the museum galleries, including a live band, Motown-themed fun, crafts for adults and children, storytellers and more!

12:00 - 5:00 p.m. Visit the AARP welcome table and photo booth and take a guided stroll through the galleries (first level)

Summer Film Series: Our Italian Story: Progress, Passion and Promise

'Our Italian Story' focuses on some of Detroit's most prominent Italian-Americans, following their footsteps through their toughest challenges, their boom times and tracks them through wars and economic downturns. It traces their seamless integration into business, politics and art, all the while rejoicing in an essential Italian zest for life.

Running time: 60 minutes. Shown at the Detroit Historical Museum. Admission is FREE.

Museum Day is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. The Museum Day ticket provides free admission for two people on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Visit the Detroit Historical Museum on Museum Day for special family activities including crafts, dancing lessons and a music trivia game with prizes.

Ann will talk to Don about his work covering presidential elections since 2000 and what it was like being at the White House the morning of September 11. They will also take a trip down memory lane and talk about their time working together at WDET.
