| Description |
model steam locomotive, O-Gauge, Lionel #18006, "Reading 2100" a fairly accurate model of a Reading Company Class T-1 4-8-4 wheel arrangement, cast white metal, has an operating headlight, whistle and smoke unit, "2100" printed on cab side, black, manufactured 1989, excellent condition. The accompanying tender is item 1997.011.001a.
This locomotive donated by Lionel owner Richard Kughn to replace a similar locomotive he had donated in 1989 and was lost in August, 1996 fire. This model was built by Lionel during the time Mr. Kughn owned the company located in Chesterfield, Michigan. Mr. Kughn chose this particular locomotive to model since he then owned the prototype #2100, which he had restored and planned to use in a national excursion service, which never materialized to do the reluctance of railroads to operate steam. This locomotive ended up in Ontario for a number of years unused, until it was acquired in 2007 by a West Coast excursion train operator and returned to operation. |
