War of 1812 Symposium

In conjunction with Wayne State University, the Detroit Historical Society invites you to delve into the history of the War of 1812 and its impact on Detroit. This day-long symposium will include two break-out sessions, a keynote presentation by Alan Taylor and lunch. Alan Taylor is Professor of History at the University of California Davis and a contributing editor to the New Republic. His most recent publication, The Civil War of 1812, has drawn widespread praise, described in one critique as "the most illuminating and original history of the conflict ever written." 

Border Crossings: The Detroit River Region in the War of 1812, edited by Denver Brunsman, Joel Stone and Douglas Fisher, ill be available for sale during the event.
