Experience a totally different perspective of Detroit history – through the eyes of artists.  Hear how women in Detroit took charge of their destiny to build international careers in the fine arts. Revealed are the obstacles, courage and humor required to gain financial independence and become part of the mainstream art world. This is a unique overview of the art and rich history of Detroit explained through a colorful show of portraits, still life, cityscapes and more — all created by female members of our local creative class.  A special feature will be the daring pictures that Frida Kahlo created in Detroit that turned her into an art superstar.
