African American History Day

The Detroit Historical Museum is a great place to kick off Black History Month as we celebrate our annual African American History Day This free event celebrates African American history and culture with activities on all three levels of the Museum.

Find a variety of gifts or pamper yourself with items from our Artists Market throughout the museum; learn from many of the historical organizations in the area, including the Tuskegee Airmen and neighborhood groups; and bring the kids to enjoy entertainment and a caricature artist all afternoon.  Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the event.

Guests will also learn more about Black
history from historical organizations in the area
including the Black Historic Sites Committee
and several neighborhood associations.
